Evolving Deterministic Finite Automata Using Cellular Encoding

چکیده
This paper presents a method for the evolution of deterministic finite automata that combines genetic programming and cellular encoding. Programs are evolved that specify actions for the incremental growth of a deterministic finite automata from an initial single-state zygote. The results show that, given a test bed of positive and negative samples, the proposed method is successful at inducing automata to recognize several different languages.

On the Existence of Universal Finite or Pushdown Automata
It is well known that there exist universal Turing machines (UTM). Such a UTM simulates any special Turing machine (TM) M in a certain way. There are several ways of simulation. One is that a UTM U simulating a TM M with input w halts if and only if M halts on input w. Another possibility is that any computation step of M is simulated by U using some number of steps which are be restricted by s...

In this paper, we show that for any BL-general L-fuzzy automaton (BL-GLFA) there exists a complete deterministic accessible reduced BL-general L-fuzzy automaton that recognizing the behavior of the BL-GLFA. Also, we prove that for any finite realization β, there exists a minimal complete deterministic BL-GLFA recognizing β. We prove any complete deterministic accessible reduced BL-GLFA is a min...
متن کاملEvolving 3D Models of Trees Using Genetic Programming
This paper describes a technique to evolve 3D models of plants based on deterministic automata. It uses cellular encoding to obtain these automata from trees evolved in standard genetic programming software. The fitness is a combination of high-level characteristics of the model, including overall shape, number of branches and geometric characteristics. We introduce a grid-based constraint eval...
متن کاملFinite Automata Encoding Geometric Figures
Finite automata are used for the encoding and compression of images. For black-and-white images, for instance, using the quad-tree representation, the black points correspond to ω-words defining the corresponding paths in the tree that lead to them. If the ω-language consisting of the set of all these words is accepted by a deterministic finite automaton then the image is said to be encodable a...

Microbiological systems evolve to fulfill their tasks with maximal efficiency. The immune system is a remarkable example, where self-non self distinction is accomplished by means of molecular interaction between self proteins and antigens, triggering affinity-dependent systemic actions. Specificity of this binding and the infinitude of potential antigenic patterns call for novel mechanisms to g...
